Life in the Kitchen
Chapter 1: Living in Poverty
Living
in poverty is hard; there is not a lot of money, bad food and no clean
water available and everything is in ruins. That's the worst part of poverty.
I
live in Dhaka, Bangladesh, a big but difficult city in the country. It is
the capital and the largest city in Bangladesh.
Dhaka
is a small, overpopulated, polluted city where poverty is common. It is
full of traffic and lots of people sitting in the streets, not enjoying it but
suffering from it.
At
least this is what I think for my point of view. The richer citizens of Dhaka
may think Dhaka is a great, clean and rich and proud city in Bangladesh. I
don't know.
I
have three brothers that live in poverty as well. My father is in the only
person in the family that has a job. Dad works as a ship captain for a big
trading company.
He
is always gone for a long time and I miss him as he sails to nearby counties.
Dad always tells me of where he goes and what he sees.
We
live near the busy downtown area of Dhaka. It's not much, but it's more
than some other poorer families living in the desperate city.
I
have always dreamed of being the C.E.O of a big corporation in the corner
of the capital, where I don't have to see the poverty of the city, but being a
man of wealth.
Sigh.
If only life was like that.
